Diane, a lifelong resident of the Omaha area, has three children and nine grandchildren.
Diane is the Douglas County Register of Deeds. She was first elected in November 2004, and in 2008 and 2012 campaigned for re-election, unopposed. She began her third term in January 2013--still the first and only woman to serve as Douglas County Register of Deeds.
As an employee in the ‘90s, Diane worked closely with the Register of Deeds, preparing yearly budgets, ensuring sound fiscal management, and maintaining an efficient system of document recording. Since being elected, Diane has made many improvements – internally, with more reliable recording procedures, such as electronic recording, and externally, with improved customer service. The office is responsible for more than 15,000,000 stored documents, dating to 1854, that cover more than 200K parcels of property.
Diane also is a real estate broker, and owner of Battiato Real Estate. She has 28 years of real estate experience, which includes considerable knowledge of valuing property.

counties have followed Diane’s lead;
